Remodel sleeping area?
Last fall, we bought a pre-owned 1989 26' Fleetwood Prowler TT (sleeps 4) which is in very good condition (no leaks, all maintenance records, all mechanicals work fine). The only problem is that the bedroom is set up with twin beds on either side of a center aisle, with a rear bathroom door that extends into the bedroom between the beds. Kitchen and bathroom are on opposite ends of the trailer. Bathroom access is through bedroom or an outside door. Jackknife sofa in the living room is miserable. We would like to be able to sleep in the same bed without one of us having a bar down the middle of our back. Any visitors can deal with the jackknife sofa. We want a functional bedroom.
Under one of the beds in the bedroom are some mechanicals (HVAC and plumbing), but under the other bed is nothing but storage with outside access.
The trailer is in its forever home. (We're boondocking except for electricity.) We don't necessarily have to worry about construction that will withstand road miles, nor are we concerned with additional weight to tow. It doesn't even have to look pretty. It just has to be functional.
Any suggestions? We thought of removing both beds and installing a futon over the side with the mechanicals, but that still leaves the issue of middle of the night bathroom access - which is one of the main reason we upgraded to a trailer after being die hard tent campers for all of our (and our children's) lives.
