removing dinette

Toying with the idea of removing the dinette in the slide of our Apex 214RB and replacing it with table and 4 chairs. Never use the storage under dinette seats. Has anyone done this? Was it very difficult?
  • When we removed our dinette and storage benches, found no finished floor under the benches. Had to finish the floor even as far as laying a subfloor.
  • We did. Depending on the view out the rear, we sometimes swap the dinette for the recliner sofa and vice versa.
Just an FYI you will have some holes to repair when removing the dinette. We had to buy 3 trim pieces and stain them to match. No biggie, just some extra work.
The trade off for us was that while giving up some storage under the seats, we got some chairs that we can sit in for hr's as opposed to sitting on cushions that squished down in 30 mins.
  • I removed my dinette, replaced it with recliners and a stowable table, which was nice when just two people in the TT. Reverted back to the dinette again when I needed more sleeping space. Nice to have the option of either depending on who is staying in the TT.
  • We stoped at the RV place and it took about 3 hrs to move everything from one TT to another. Now we have table and chairs. Easy way to do it and we got other stuff at the same time.
  • Easy to do. We replaced ours with table and chairs, much more functional for us.
  • Lots of us have. Works good if you don't need the storage space. We got two real comfortable office chairs on wheels to use with ours. We loved the update.
