What kind of sedan (make, model, year, engine) is it? Some cars are rated to tow, and others could perhaps tow with a few added modifications.
I tow a cargo trailer as part of my livelihood. If both my Highlander and my wife's Mountaineer were out of commission at the same time, I'd be at a standstill because no one (and I really mean NO one) will rent a vehicle for towing.
Actually, they will. My son was due for a visit a couple of years ago. He was driving from Salt Lake City to the Phoenix area and we were going to meet up and camp together. A week before the trip, he had a head on collision with his F250. So towing was out of the question while it was in the shop. When he went to rent a car, he told the rental folks what had happened. The helped him out by renting him a 2500 Chevy. He was able to make the trip with his TT and we didn't have to change our plans.
