I don't know if I saw it on this forum or another, but i read using a marine epoxy works great.
For me, we had a old PUP that had a small spot that was tough to get at. I sprayed it several times with bleach then after it was dried my husband put several layers of polyurethane on it and the surrounding area.
Seems to have worked but I'm sure many would not recommend it
