replace front slider window

Just returned from a 1mo. trip to the NW.We hit a bump and a Pyrex dish jumped out of the overhead cabinet and went thru my front slider.I don't need a slide window and just want to replace it with a 1 peice. Can someone tell me the process and where I might find one.Would install plexie glass as I don't even look thru it, it's just there. It's a 95 Lance Squire lite, 8'6". Is there a site with step thru step instructions? Pictures really help. Oh, and a great trip otherwise. Was 61 just about everyday on the coast and we've come home to 109. Was 117 while we were gone, sorry we missed that, lol.

  • +1 on the local glass shop. The one here fixes glass cheaper than I can myself.

Doing as you state was my first thought... you will have to asses the exact situation.
  • It was the non slide side. So your saying I can just take out the whole frame and have a solid peice cut to fit? The vertical bars just pop out or do I need to buy a whole window frame and glass if I want a non slide? Thanks guys for your input.
  • Ditto to what Jim said, but I will add this:

...perhaps make a template yourself out of chipboard or similar (including any radius corners) to insure it fits and use it for the dimension take-off instead of just taking a tape measure and giving those to the glass cutter. I did this method for on of my overhead windows on a past camper and it was perfect fit.
  • Did it break both sides of the slider? Fixed side? Slider side? If it was the slide section, that would be a no brainer to take out and have the glazing replaced. If it is the fixed glass side, I'd go for takinging the frame out, fix and reinstall with new caulking.
  • In my area, the local glass shop will make it. You give them the measurements and they cut and have it tempered. It was pretty painless other than the wait. I had a door glass broken by someone breaking into one of my RVs a few years ago.

Also, Lance may have a standard size and that might mean you can buy it premade from them or a mail order supplier.
