Replacement Shock Info request

I have a 2005 dodge diesel 2x4 quad cab with 72k miles.

while pulling our 26ft bumper hitch trailer, when I hit a dip in the road I get a few waves up/down of rear of truck,

hitch chains appear to be set right and trailer/truck set level.

so I am thinking I may need new shocks. However truck drives fine, no dipping on rough patch of road.

any suggestions on shocks HD for a 2500 Dodge 2x4 truck.

I looked on Geno's site: bilstein B6, but other info said they were for racing or off road, not good for towing.

local parts house had Rancho rs5279 for F, rs5269 for R
do not know anything about this brand.

these are the only brands I have looked at so far.
do not want truck to ride like a log wagon, just not bounce and roll.

Thanks for any tips.

    Nice to see someone else agrees the factory shocks are junk right out of the box!

    Contact Geno's and get the yellow and blue Bilstiens, you will thank me!
  • My Rancho 9000's will double bounce if I set them at a soft setting "1" when hauling or towing a heavy FW trailer. Increasing to "9" stops it.

    Recommend you call Bilstein for a recommendation. Trophy truck shocks aren't the best option for towing and hauling over the road. 45Ricochet says 4600 and I think that is the correct shock for tow/haul.

    I will suggest two things;

    1. Bilstien 5100's for the truck, got mine from XDP Diesel they list 5100 numbers for non lifted trucks. This made a world of differance in my rig.

    2. Check or install shocks on your trailer. Once I had the Bilstien's installed the truck only bounced about 3/4 of cycle, but I could feel and see the 5er bouncing about three times, a set of shocks fixed that right up.
