Replacement tires 20 inch

After a lot of rv net searches, and internet I finally went with Goodyear Wrangler AT/S. I could still change my mind, but hopefully these will do the job. My trailer , Cameo,31 ft. is pretty heavy for SRW. The Michelins that came on it carried the load just fine, but wore out at 26000. Thats the only 20 inch Michelin makes. I guess my main concern is will the Wranglers handle the load. I do need a stiff sidewall.

  • I use Hankook DynaPro ATm rf-10 275/55R20 LR-E on our truck and have been very happy with them. They have a very stiff sidewall and carry a load very well. Got this set at Discount Tire in Dec for $1000 out the door, with new stems and lug nuts for our black chrome wheels.
  • I live in farm and oil country. I went to the local tire shop that does tons of work. When I ask about getting the Michelin, they said they are not getting that much mileage. I started looking around and have had good experience with Ford dealer in Amarillo. I puit tires on my RV, and DWs car. Nobody could touch their price, not even Discount Tire. I figured since I did quite a lot of business there I would get the Wranglers their as well. Cost 1420.00 less 60.00 rebate and of course tax will be added on. Looked at Nitto. I had a set when Ford started putting 17 inch on. They were fine just did not wear very well. I almost went with Nitto due to the cost.
  • I got yelled out on another thread stating Michelin are not what they used to be.

    Go figure!

The results for Michelin tires on this Forum are starting to come in mixed (some bad-some good) when previously they were all good.
  • Nitto makes a decent 20" tire. My camping buddy put them on his F250 about 3 months ago and is happy with them. Take a look at their website.
  • Mine also has OEM 20" Michelin. Hate to hear you only got 26,000. Don't remember ever having Michelins as OEM before, but replacement Michelins have always given me a LOT more miles than that.
But I have also heard (read?) that OEM tires of any brand/style are of less quality than replacement tires purchased later of the same brand/style. Anyone else ever heard that or know if there is any truth to it? A way to cut costs by the manufacturer?
  • I have the same tires on my truck since 2006 and they have been great just my 2cents.
