Replacing dinnette

Hi all, We have a 31SQBWE, Cougar. I really like it. We were out for this past weekend and we need a better seating arrangement. The dinnette is not that user friendly. I would like to take the dinette out and replace that with two smallish swivel rockers. Has anyone else done that? If so, can you post pictures so I can convince my husband?
  • We converted our U-shaped dinette to straight bench seating, took out the uncomfortable swivel rockers snd replaced them with barrel chairs, and put a loveseat in the space that used to have the foldout sleeper couch.

When I first joined this forum, I saw a post that I really liked. "Our trailer will seat eight for cocktails, four for dinner, and sleeps two". Works for us!
  • Easily done. We took out our sleeper/sofa in the slide and replaced with a recliner love seat. So much more comfortable. We went to a local furniture store to find the replacement rather than do "RV furniture" like Camping World has. Cheaper and just as good quality if not better. Just be mindful of what will fit through the trailer door.
  • Not exactly the same but I took out my couch/hide-a-bed that was terrible in both functions and replaced it with a euro-recliner. It's by far the best modification I've ever done to an RV.

I'm not sure why the manufacturers think we need crappy seating and sleeping for 11 people. I'd be happy with reasonable/comfortable accommodations for 2.
  • Just storage. The dinette is in the slide. Right now, the trailer is in the shop. Brand new and we sprung a leak!
  • Personally haven't done it, but others have.
First question and probably most important, what is in the dinette seats (storage areas). If just storage, it wouldn't be a problem. The finish flooring is probably already there.
If there are other items, fresh water tank and pump or Water Heater or Furnace. Can they be easily relocated or built around.
