I had he same problem with the cheap vent on my Desert Fox... and they will get brittle, I bumped it with a wash brush and shattered it.
On my AF811, the same vent is turning yellow. I thought about one of the slim vents but I can't confirm whether the mounting holes have the same pattern as the old vent. That is a requirement for me because I'm not going to drill more holes in the wall.
The cable style looks like a good option, because to operate to other, I need a dang ladder.
Thw white window trim on the rear door yellowed within a year and had a weird stain appear on it. It was there from day one and got worse. I don't know what the factory did to cause it, but it looked like a dog whizzed on it.
KRYLON FUSION solved the problem for the inside and outside trim on both windows. I pulled the windows out and painted the frames in the yard. I put about 10 coats on them, which was totally overkill.
