Rest areas?
I was just told it is illegal to spend the night in your camper in a rest area in Tennessee. Can anyone verify this? If this is indeed true, does it apply to other state's rest areas? How does on...

I read over the info on TN rest stops, but I could swear I've seen some - albeit few - that do allow overnighters. Depending on where you're heading, if there is a CW enroute, call them and they usually have some spots including some with electric. Given my choice of Walmart with "security" or tucked in between 2 big rigs at a truck stop, I'd go with the truck stop for a few hours. That also means no chairs, no grill, no kiddos running about. Just pull in and be as inconspicuous as possible. My theory with Walmart/Sams's is that when a shoplifter can walk out of the store with a 60" flat screen, load it and maybe another one to boot into their vehicle and be gone, their security is lacking. My preference is to look for the least expensive, decent CG on your route and just consider it part of the cost of the trip
