ernie,
i too have a retrax with a semi split lexan cover (now going on 13 years). i replaced the rolling mechanism as well about three years ago ( directly from retrax). at that time the split also existed and i temporarily fixed it by stop drilling the split, and tieing the broken part with copper wire. retrax also offered a replacement lexan cover at their dealer cost (i cant remember how much at this point)
i just lived with the split the last few years, and the truck goes in on trade (tomorrow) so i dont have to decide now. i was going to get a new retrax (best price in canada i found was $1490 CDN free shipping out of toronto i now see that is $1600 they must have watched the exchange rate ) but the new truck has a factory tonneau the dealer is giving at his cost ($1000) so i'll live with that for the short term so no new retrax
(the current list on retrax from usa was $12xx plus shipping) my original came from usa at the time since there were no cdn dealers then
check with partsengine.ca ( the dealer in toronto ) maybe they can do better than retrax)
