- Actually in my lane? Some kind of trophy cabinet all busted down. As long as I was stopped behind it I just got out and tossed the large pieces to the shoulder of the 10 lane freeway. Actually having gloves in the glove box is a big help.
About a year ago I had a mystery object come up and smack two large dents in my car fender and roof pillar. Never even saw it on that dark and rainy night. Probably one of those ladders or similar. The hit was so loud I thought for a moment I was in a crash.
I did see two ladders come off a truck years ago. The ladders shifted in the rack and as the guy pulled on the shoulder the ladders hit a fence that was on the barricade ejecting the ladders into the traffic lane. Not in my lane but I did slow to a stop as the guy was in a panic getting the ladders picked up. - romoreExplorer III watched a canoe get airborne off the top of a cab over TC, I would have picked it up but the guy stopped in a real hurry.:B Unsecured loads net a big fine here, debris on the road can get people killed.
- LwiddisExplorer IIOutfitted my entire TT with stuff from the highway. Don't always have the latest model....
- Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerA brand new 5er laying on it's side last month on hwy 18 between Otis and McMinnville Or. Looked nice before the crash. Not so good after the crash.
I hope it was nobody on this forum? Anybody else see it? - colliehaulerExplorer IIINeighbor works for the highway dept. The most common item he finds is spare tires, rv and truck. He has found wallets, cell phones, tablets as well, people get out to use the bathroom and leave them behind. The highway dept keeps the items for two weeks before discarding. If it has a name and phone number they try to contact the individual.
- rbpruExplorer III had a concrete block drop off a truck and shatter in front of my small car. I would have chased it but the block punched a hole in my gas tank.
My daughter hit an old battery that was on the road in the same car a few years later. We have no idea how the battery got there; fortunately it did no damage but was a good scare. - zigzagrvExplorerBicycles, tire gators ......and Chebby parts... :B
- downtheroadExplorerRoad Debris:
A Ford Super Duty........apologize in advance. I couldn't resist a little early morning trolling........:B - DownTheAvenueExplorerRoad debris I have seen: Sofa cushions, chairs, ladders, mattresses, household appliances.
- LynnmorExplorerI saw an RV air conditioner on the road. There was no overhead interference, so it must have not been bolted down properly.
