Your liberty is hardly HD to santa fe .. my sister had one I drove many times. Your diesel maybe more powerful but your also towing more weight .. sure it's gonna swagger you around. I'm not worried about not being able to pull the trailer with my motor. My main concern is overloading the weight to the vehicle size which as I mentioned already is the same basic size and setup to a vehicle rated to haul 5000 pounds which I'm not even hauling that much. 4057 pounds for my santa fe to your 4324. 275 lb difference ... am I making sense yet ???
What I meant by more HD than yours is mainly my transmission is the same used in older 2500 and 3500 trucks with the Hemi motor, and my suspension is much stiffer. Heck, last year, I towed with popped air bags, although I did notice about an 1 inch more sag than when I use 10-12psi in the air bags.
But, best of luck in your adventures. Remember, trailer brakes and proper towing mirrors are also a must.
