I agree it's a valid repair. If they have a parts department you could walk in and see if they sell a small package of Eternabond tape for repairing holes such as this. They used to sell such a package at Walmart for about $10, but I don't know it they still do.
Anyway if they sell the tape I would ask them to throw it into the deal or even go one step further and have them use the tape to cover the holes while you wait. I'm not so sure I'd pull the Dicor either, I'd probably just lay the tape right over it, press it down well with a hard roller and call it a day.
