Crawled under the new Hideout 178LHS to check out the welds on the frame and bumper. Dealer assured me a bike rack on the bumper would be fine. No way. Extensions of the frame are welded to angle brackets that hold the bumper. The welds are minimal, and don't look very deep. Plan B. Rooftop bike carriers. Don't want to mortgage anything to get them, but don't want flimsy either. What do you folks recommend? Thanks.

This one might be a little stronger than you need. As for my thought, that is a lot of weight swinging way up in the air, and I probably would not order one. I just put my bike into the camper when I had a camper, but now have a bike rack that goes into the 2" receiver on the back of my motorhome. I welded two extra 2" receiver to the hitch, one next to the drives side frame mount, one next to the passenger side frame mount. So I have 3 each 2" receivers on my motorhome hitch. I use one of the receiver for my Sacco dog cart, one for the bikes, one for the car in the middle. Fred.

Easy to mount...Those mounted on the rear of the trailer are not in your view and you would not have any idea how they are making the trip. That's a great idea. Where do you store your table when enroute? I am guessing you flip the boards over to get the cushions to lay flat?

We went round and round with this when purchase ours a few years ago.

What I end up doing was making a bike rack on the dinette eating area when the
benches were flipped over. It cost me less that $50 for the 4 mikes and only takes us about 20 minutes to put the bikes in the rack. If you like a picture let me know.

If you doing it a 23B you better have light bikes.

I use a swagman 3 bike rack for the front of the truck, thule rack bike racks on the top of the sub.
2305lbs of payload to use. 23B payload: 500 to 800lbs

We have a new TT, which has a larger storage door by the back bunks. The bottom bunk folds up and it becomes a rather large storage area. We'll either put our bikes in there, or we have a "trunk mount" bike rack, which straps to the rear hatch of our SUV. It has straps and hooks to the top and bottom edge, similar to this

My trailer is considered a "Small TT" by concensus on this forum. If we put them in the coach, the bathroom is unreachable. Which defeats one of the purposes of the trailer, I don't like rest stop restrooms.

We have a Jayco 23b. Maybe we are lucky with our layout, but we can still get in and out if we want.

My trailer is considered a "Small TT" by concensus on this forum. If we put them in the coach, the bathroom is unreachable. Which defeats one of the purposes of the trailer, I don't like rest stop restrooms.

How many bikes and what kind of room in your camper?

We haul our bikes inside our camper rather than mess with mounting anything anywhere on it. Works great if you have the room. It's actually quicker for us to move them in and out of the camper than to get them secured to a mount attached to the car or the camper.

I have two Swagman fork mount racks on my Suburban. I have only used for one 2000 mile trip but they work great. I'm not sure how much weight the OEM bars can handle, though. I have a third rack I have not yet mounted.
