I grabbed my ever trusty EOS 5D camera to start taking pictures for this trip, I frame the shot, I press the shutter release, and cluncka clunka nuttin honey.I take the lens off to find the mirror has detached from the shutter mechanism leaving me with only a Nokia phone to take at best blurry pictures. Fortunately I can dismiss it as a trip we've done before so It's already been photographed but still, it's the booger of it all. A couple hundred bucks to fix it back in Seattle at Glazers and it'll be good as new.Here's a few pics from before the incident.I liked the attention to detail and factory new restoration of this car. It rained late last night for about an hour too but became a beautiful day. Lets hope for the same pattern tomorrow.As we left Seattle and were driving through Tacoma, We noticed a building on fire.Right after the fire, I noticed a 1966 GTO in poor condition hopefully being taken to a new good home and restoration.Sidebar:The rain outside has taken a turn for the worse. That's a great camera, and I'd fix it too. How many photos do you suppose you shot with it?

I'd call Canon - bet they'd fix it for nothing. More thinking and I recall that the Canon has interchangeable mirrors. You might be able to hook it back up yourself. Check the net for info.

Weddings, Sporting Events, Car Shows, and tons of scenery along the way. That camera has been a true and reliable work horse. I agree it'll be well worth the price to fix. After examining the problem, all it needs is 4 dots of adhesive to fasten the mirror back on. I'd consider doing it myself but it may require special alignment and adhesive. Otherwise it's a simple fix.

Jeff. Let the shop fix it. The mirror in your Camera's my have to be aligned.

I finally saw the photos.....but now I'm drooling about that Banana Split!:B

The pictures were great....that hood scoop was very, very cool....and obviously the guy wanted something that was awesome, or why not just use the cowling or have the hood scoop fixed open?

I think Gravity is one of those movies that you'll wish you watched on a bigger screen....just because of the special effects. Oh, I'm sorry, it was all real!:S

Sorry about the excitement with the pictures folks. The EOS takes a big data image. If you like classic cars, you'll like the images. The next set of images are much smaller since they're off a phone. Right now, I'm going to enjoy my rib steak and baked potato. Then I'm going to have a banana split kick back and Relax. Our movie tonight is GRAVITY on the 17" laptop big screen.

Hokey smoke...ya there working- still cant see-but my end now.
Pictures are simply too large, brought my poor old machine to its knees, after 5 minuets had to close explorer. One I looked at was over 4 million bytes? Loading simultaneously painful.

Heck Jeff, I'd take a Canon to it also, but I shutter to think of the destruction that would mirror the first Canon ball. Ok, was that a stretch? I thought it was a stretch. Cameras do have a finite number of pictures to be taken from them. Is it possible you've reached that terrible magic number? And personally, if I had the extra money right now I'm dying to give a Sony mirrorless camera a try. Less moving parts to go wrong yet I'm sure they might have their issues as well. Sorry I can't see the pics Jeff, have a good trip without a camera. It's something my wife tries to get me to do too but my memory just doesn't hold pictures like it used to.

I camped in Florence, OR with my family back in, umm 1967 was a little bit younger than now, lol. Real nice place from what i remember.

Now that's a crack I can live with. Though I've done many reports in the past, one final click of the mouse has continually plagued me. After tediously completing all the steps involved to put together a trip report, I failed to make the pictures PUBLIC.
