RV Carbon Monoxide Propane

This weekend my kids accidently unplugged the TT. When that has happened in the past the RV Carbon Monoxide/Propane alarm would start beeping.

When I would plug the unit back in it would go back to green. But now its been plugged in for 2 days and just stays red. The propane is off and the windows are all open with the fans running.

So my thought is that if there was something to detect it would have went away by now.

So I am really at a loss any ideas would help a great deal thanks.

  • Someone asked you if you had tested it? My unit was doing the same and after reading the literature on the unit I hit the test button. It roared to life and the problem went away. I had read somewhere the dust can settle on the detector rendering it problematic. The test is supposed to remove said dust. Mine says to test yearly. I see where yours says weekly. Have you done this?

Checking the power supply is the first thing. If that doesn't help, try doing the test. Mine is a CO tester. Haven't had any issues with the propane tester.
  • Well I spoke to soon.

    Beeping again.

The battery measures 13v on my tester

I will try to unplug and replug
  • Update...well when I took the above picture I turned the AC on in the TT as it was hot.

Well I walked back to my car and what do you know it's green and no beeping.

Now hopefully it's still green when I get home.

I'll check the battery voltage when I get back.

  • Mine beeped when plugged into shore power but without any 12V battery on the trailer. Beeping stopped once 12V was applied.
  • What is battery voltage?

    Have you 'tested' it ?

Only other thing would be to:

Unplug detector...wait 1 minute then plug back in.

If it doesn't reset have dealer replace

This is a new detector so age isn't an issue but every detector will beep if it's input voltage is low. Since you say it works fine when the trailer is plugged into shore power and the converter can therefore supply proper power it sounds like you're not disconnecting your trailer battery, either physically or with a disconnect switch, when the trailer is sitting idle.
