RV Covers

I have been looking at RV covers (my wife says we should have one).. I see that the prices vary wildly. Is the quality of the more expensive ones that much better? What do I need to know about covers?

I will say the dealers and manufacturers do not seem to worry about covering their inventory no matter how hard the winter is in Indiana.

  • we had an adco cover, lasted about 4 years, did a good job but was heavy and bulky. When it needed replacement dealer recomended a classic accessory cover with ripstop nylon. 4 years and going strong. much lighter, much easier to install, and fits in a small toat.

I can remove the classic accy unit in less than 15 minutes, not much longer to install it. The adco took longer because of the bulk.

We store our trailer in a community RV lot. walking around the lot in the summer it is VERY obvious which trailers were covered. no or minimal black streaks, no faded or pealing graphics, no yellowed plastic trim, no oxidized sides.

pick what works best for you.

As I've repeated time and again ... :R

Obviously. :S What dealer in his / her right mind would invest in hundreds of covers and have to pay staff to install & later remove each cover when the entire purpose of the business is to sell lot stock as quickly as possible? Hardly a rationale for an individual owner to not use a cover. :R
  • We have a cover but rarely use it because we often travel in the off season, even in the winter.

This year would have been a good year to cover because we had lots of snow but we were not sure if we were going to travel.

It takes the wife and I about a half hour to drape it over the TT. Then I spend as much time as I like playing with it until I am happy.

I will say the dealers and manufacturers do not seem to worry about covering their inventory no matter how hard the winter is in Indiana.

I think rv covers are very beneficial in keeping your rv clean and provide protection from the elements. You do have to look at it as part of your maintenance routine and it will take you an additional 30-40 minutes to put cover on and buckle it down.

The cover itself weighs about 30 pounds. Weight of cover may be a challenge in trying to get it up there.

To really see the benefit, you must have some discipline and put it on as much as possible. I can see why it can be discouraging.

I have purchased ADCO Designer, registered product and kept receipt for product warranty. They do honor warranty.

X2 on ADCO Designer cover for WIND.. They keep my TT looking brand new! Yes, it's a pain to put on but I am protecting my expensive investment.. It is worth it!

  • I put my cheap Empire Cover on in the fall and take it off in the spring. It was around the $200 dollar mark, free freight. The last one lasted me 7 years. You won't want to put it on and take it off each time you camp though, because it isn't a pleasant pass time.

  • This is this week's cover question. Search this Forum for `RV Cover' and read what has already been posted including my ideas.
  • They are a pain to take on and off. I'd get one but my last one ended up in a heap in my garage because didn't have the energy to climb up on the roof and fight with the cover after a long weekend of camping.
  • Had a Adco Designer cover, good enough quality, held up well. Need to know??? WIND is not your friend.
