i guess it depends on your definition of "negotiate". years back I would have virtual wrestling matches with car/etc. salesmen. back and forth, take the offer to the sales manager, etc. come back and debate some more. truly a harrowing but enjoyable experience. with the last offer being for free floor mats.
since then I know what I should be paying and what I want to pay and we approach it like gentlemen. no sweat, no pressure, etc. if they don't like my offer I just go out, hop in my car and drive off. and yes, I have had salesmen chase me across the lot while I was leaving.
