RV Fridge issue

Do you have an operational 12v battery hooked up.
Frig, on gas needs electricity (DC) to operate the control board.

DO you have a good fully charged battery?

Is it isolated via a battery disconnect switch?

Fridge requires DC power to function

And WHAT fridge do you have.........numerous models by by MFGs.

Not trying to be rude it's just your question is like asking "I have a piece of rope------how long does it need to be?"

Brand/Model of appliance is better info than which RV you have.
Details of what it does and doesn't do is even better info.
It sparks but doesn't light, it doesn't spark, it lights but doesn't stay lit, it doesn't/it does. OK

never been used on gas, need 12volt battery and light the stove to bleed the air out of the line.

There is no pilot light, only a small gas burner which is ignited with the 12V DC circuit.

Also how long are you waiting for cooling to begin. Usually takes several hours to cool.

Never used on gas, per OP, could mean dirty gas orifice or spider web in burner tube. Spiders do like the smell of LP.

Turn off the fridge for five minutes. Open the outside fridge cover for something to do during that time. With no shore power turn on the fridge and go outside and see if the burner is trying to light. You should hear the tick, tick, tick of the igniter trying to light the LP. If a flame does start and then goes out. A cleaning of the burner tube and orifice may cure the problem. By the way if the battery is not charged to around 12.7 volts DC that has to be corrected first. One last thing, are the interior lights working? If not, flip on the battery disconnect switch if there is one or find out why there is no power to the lights.

Sorry, the above is a broad brush approach but effective.

1) Make sure propane is open at cylinder.

2) Light a stove burner and let it run for a while to get the gas flowing.

The small flame is all there is. It's not a pilot light.

See if it come on after propane is flowing.

If not, check for ignition noise as described above.

No ignition noise---check that battery disconnect is not on by trying the inside lights. Fridge control panel needs 12 V DC to run on propane.

If inside lights come on, check the battery voltage. It needs to be 12.7 or so.

If you hear ignition noise, but no lighting of the flame occurs, clean the burner tube and orifice carefully as described elsewhere on this site.

Repeat lighting sequence.

Allow 24 hours for fridge to cool down.

If none of the above works.. try this (worked for me) Plug in to shore power and set fridge to "both" unplug after 5-10 minutes.. see if it switches to propane without error message.

Try setting the fridge to the "gas only" setting. Helps to isolate the problem.

Remember to slowly crack open your gas bottle valve. I've had the safety valve kick in and cut the gas supply when the valve was opened too quickly.

If your stove does not light and you are sure you have LP in the tank your pig tail might be the problem. As mentioned earlier, slowly open the valve on the LP tank.
