Good rice for new is 30% off MSRP. Some do a little better, others a little worse. But first offer at 35% off or 40% off givs a little room to negotiate. So, $30k MSRP new means $21k sales price. Sales tax varies by state. Dealer fees and WDH should be under $1000. I would not pay a delivery fee. What brand/model are you interested in?
I would find quotes at some of the larger so called wholesale RV dealers in the midwest. Lakeshore, Holman, RV Wholesalers, RV Direct are examples. Then compare what transportation costs for you or delivery is to your local prices.
Looking at used, there is often a similar market of retail price vs. actual sales price. So if you see a listing of 1-3yr unit at $21-24k which is what someone should have bought that same model new at, then I would expect another 30% off that price as an actual transaction. If private or dealers are not willing to come down that much then I agree you might as well buy it new.
Ignore show pricing. I'd stick with quotes from the dealers I listed above. These dealers are usually cheaper for brand new custom orders compared to anything walked in my thousands at RV shows.
