Although it is probably safe enough drinking from a regular hose, a drinking water safe one is probably better for hooking up an RV. Reason is that water running through a hose is the same coming out as it is going in, but a hose full of still water, especially sitting in the sun's heat, MIGHT absorb some type of chemical from the hose material. The material used for "safe" hoses is designed not to do that.. We use a 25' white hose, that is used for fresh water hookup ONLY. For all other purposes, I have another 25' of plain garden hose, and 50' of flat, roll up hose. The 50' is marked safe, and has been used for that on a few occasions,, although I do not leave it in the heat with pressure on it.
