Yes, recycled plastic from unknown and untested sources is an issue and not only in garden hoses. I passed on installing Allure Ultra flooring in my trailer because of bad health reports. When the dog lays on the floor and starts to lose his hair, you know it can't be good.
It seems the Far East is the worst about this. It is, I'm sure, an economic thing, cheaper and easy to grind used plastic and toss a mix into the mold.
