Safety Recall N62/NHTSA 13V0528 (Dodge RAM 2003 to 08)

Anyone tried to schedule this appointment? They will get it in and inspect the vehicle but the parts are on nation wide back order. The part manufacturer doesnt want to release the parts to dodge because of the constant bankrupting issues that they have.

Their guess time on installing the part is 6 months or longer.

I work for a car dealership and have "ins" at the local dodge. Even with that, and her putting me on a first call basis, she still cant say when the parts will arrive.

This is a real shame! Parts are probably on a slow boat from China. :R

I was talking about the other forums, but thanks for the actuation buddy. OBTW can't find much about it, I'll keep looking and let you know soooooo you can tune out until I contact you.

It's not on back order and you better check with your "in" at the dealer and tell them to look at there dealer email.

The N62 and the N49 parts kit have been recalled. Yes a recall on a recall! All parts are to be returned to Chrysler by the end of today March 21.

Parts might be available in April. Anyone that had the N62 or N49 done can expect to have it done again.

On the parts issue....which is a moot point now...

I was told by my dealer that they could only order parts to do two trucks at a time, so it would be a bit of a wait until they'd call me to bring it in.

Maybe a picture will help those not sure if they actually need parts.

Got to love the idea of a supplier "self certifying" their parts. From a business bottom line point (bean counter) it makes since I guess. With the vendor cert any and all costs for rejected parts will be charged back to the Tier One. But the cost to the manufacturers reputation IMO is more important then any savings the OEM's will ever see.

The big thing now is having a third party do all sorts and certs for rejected product. This is done in house and the cost is charged to the Tier One. We have sorts going everyday and the sort vendor pays their workers $7.80 per hour. Does anyone think you will get any quality workers for that pay rate?

Now the question becomes, if this companies highly trained :R work force allows defective material to be re-certified and then is built into the vehicle, who is responsible for those costs?

My bet is, this is what has happened with this recall. And now you will have people (like we have here @ rv.net) saying look at this guys they (Fiat/Chrysler/Ram) can't even get the replacement parts for a major recall right! Makes it hard to say you build World Class Vehicles, when you have******like this going on.

The only saving grace is, it's not just happening at Fiat/Chrysler it's happening at every manufacturer. It's the consumer that is suffering along with the workers that are actually trying to build a quality product.

Looking at THIS LINK Ram seems to have bad replacement part also :H Did't read anything about BK or six months though.

A rep with Chrysler Care told me today that they expect the new parts to start hitting the dealerships around the first of April. At this point I imagine it may be next year before many of us get our trucks repaired. I just pray to the lord mine doesn't snap before then.

Sure is a big mix up though, must have 5 or 6 different recall numbers. Hopefully a correct part will be a couple weeks away and not 6 months!

First off like Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda and every other manufacturer Chrysler does not manufacture their tie rod ends. So the costs of the parts, labor and administrative cost get billed back to the supplier.

They (the suppier) can fill for bankruptcy but this was under Damn-Lier's watch. So even if the supplier goes belly up Fiat can most likely go after the Germans for the cost.

BTW the bankruptcy that GM and Chrysler was forced to goes through does not protect them from the costs of recalls.

Im telling you what my rep at Dodge told me. Moog or whoever supplies their parts will not release any new parts to them because of bankrupting issues they have had. I guess they owed them a LOT of money in the past. I was just repeating what they were telling me. Their parts supplier wont release the parts.

She informed me that they were releasing a tie rod every 2 weeks or so....
