Photomike - I agree completely with #1. Before the laws against cell phone use while driving, I routinely talked to a friend when either she or I were driving. But I never did so unless I was on a straight run of highway/freeway with minimal traffic. If traffic became heavy, I was about to exit the highway/freeway, or I was about to get on the highway/freeway, I told her I'd call her back and put the phone down immediately.
I also never used the phone while driving in a parking lot. I might sit in the car in my spot and talk, but as soon as the engine was on, the phone was down.
