Sales tax question
If I'm a SD resident and purchase. A new vehicle in NC, which state's sales tax do I pay? I believe it's SD. What say you? Thanks in advance.

Make that Illinois and Indiana.....but that's not true, at least not the whole amount. Illinois would have charged you the difference when you registered it, as their tax is higher.
Doing it the way they did just made the paper work easier for the dealer. Likely they didn't have to collect any tax that way and you pay the full amount when getting your Illinois plates.
