Salvage title

I have a dealer about 70 miles from me and he sells a lot on ebay with no reserve and seems to be doing very well at it. He says a lot of his units are repo. He also sells units with hardly any cosmetic problems but have a salvage title. I suspect he's getting these from an insurance sale of some sort. He claims a rebuilt title is easy to aquire? Is this true? At first I figured it would cheap because of just having twin beds, but now I'm concerned about this salvaged title stuff. I went to my DMV and was told that insurance copy gives these titles out if there is more than 75% damage done and to get a real title would have to show the repairs and get an inspection from the local police wich is no problem. It's fixing the cosmetic repair that I have a problem with. It doesn't hinder the operation or travel capabilities of this and would like to know can a salvage title be changed into a real one without the cosmetic repairs? I was hoping someone has gone through this and could help a fellow out. Six days of the auction left and plan to travel tomorrow to see it in person. Here's the link for the auction.

I would contact your insurance agent and see if they will cover a salvage title.

A lot of trailers are in floods.

Most lake side camping spots ARE camping spots because they are in flood planes and an house could not be built.

It was a salvage because of some scrapes on the side??? Doubtful.

I'd be careful. Many RVs with salvage titles came from areas hit by flooding over the past few years. Some damage (rust & wood rot)may not show up right a way after an RV has sat in water.

Nearly impossible to impossible to get insurance with a salvage title...

Unless you really know what to look for and are ready to do a lot of repairs, I'd stay away as you will likely not be money ahead in the long run. Keep in mind that some of these with salvage titles could be from something like this: Flood :E

While you're awaiting personal replies, here are 5 pages of posts with salvage and title in them. They're not all tt's, but the circumstances are likely similar.
