Thats the norm , it covers the trailer for liability , not replacement unless you pay for it .

Call a DIFFERENT INSURANCE COMPANY and you most likely will get a different answer (even in Florida)..
You can also ask your vehicle insurance for a "RIDER" for your trailer which will cover the trailer and contents when not connected.. These riders are often very inexpensive to add it will be much cheaper than a separate "policy"..
Pretty good chance adding a trailer rider will only cost an extra $30-$40 or so a year to your auto policy..
Insurance companies make a killing selling SEPARATE POLICIES..
