salvage title

Ok, new to the site and just trying to get some info on this. I have owned a trailer previous, so I am not new to the camping world, but I came across a really awesome deal at the insurance auction and jumped on it. I bought a 2010 keystone springdale bunk house with hail damage for $8000. I contacted the previous owner myself and he confirmed that it was indeed just hail damage. super nice trailer and everything is power.

So my question is, I received the title today and ready to go get it registered. The title is pink, salvaged and I have already paid all sales tax at the auction on it. My question is, when I received the title, they sent some paperwork with it for rebuilding it and getting it signed off on. But I believe they probably send this packet out with all the vehicles they sale since its mostly salvaged cars. Does anybody know if all you do is register it and it stays pink or can you get it back to blue title?? This is in Texas.

thank you for helping.

  • The odds are you will never get a clean title. The title should always carried a "brand" since it is indeed a rebuilt or salvage title vehicle. You won't be able to wash the title and get that designation removed. It won't keep you from licensing the rig, but it will probably prevent you from getting collision and comprehensive insurance and will always effect the resale value. Both of those are reasonable, in my opinion.
  • oh ok. that shouldn't be too bad then since it didn't do anything to it. Guess I just need to find a inspection place that does trailers to get them to sign off on it.
  • Not sure abut texas , but Maryland requires a 1 time inspection everytime ownership changes . A salvage title requires an additional inspection by the state police . Your trailer would be no problem here since they only check the frame , hitch ,lights , brakes and tires . them you get a new clean title.

You cannot register a salvage title, only a rebuilt title You are going to have to fill out the paper work and pay to have it inspected even though may have done nothing to it.
