YES.....black tank dump valve should be open when 'flushing'
IF YOU close dump valve....do NOT walk away/get distracted cause black tank will fill up/overfill come up out of toilet and/or possibly blow out roof top vent.
It will just overflow the toilet, no worries about the roof vent... that is on Arctic Fox 22G... don't ask me how i know these things :)
