I don't know if you have any other gauges in the truck, but I'd opt for those you mentioned, if you don't have any. Usually there is a water temp, so I'd pass on that if there is another gauge.
I happen to like the MPGs too, it's kind of fun to see if you can keep the numbers as high as possible:)
But depressing when it's usually around 7-8 mpg:(
As mentioned, it's easy enough to change settings, that you may want to change them periodically during a trip (say when stopping for gas/food) to monitor other aspects of the engine. No sense keeping an eye on the Tranny Temp, and then forgetting about something else equally as important.
