scissor jack broken ....

I have always had issues with one scissor jack on the TT and now the threaded rod has come right out of the inside end. Luckily I was able to wire it up to get home today. Is this an easy fix or should I just buy a new one. I have also thought of removing both front jacks and using jack stands, good or bad idea ?? :h

Thanks: Joe

  • They are cheap enough. Why not just replace it and call it done?

I wouldn't go the jackstand route. First you have to carry them somewhere, and second they don't have the infinite adjustment that the scissor jacks have. (Unless you buy those threaded ones)

I cut the socket off my scissor jack crank, ground 3 flat sides on it and use a cordless drill to put them up and down. It takes about 4 seconds to set a jack this way.
