Bob, EVERY dealer has that option available to them, IF they want to help you. However, I have found that most do not, unless they are a small dealer like those in Citrus County. Most of the urban dealers want to sell what is on their lot, NOT buy one from another dealer just to make you a customer.
They pay a floor plan fee which is like interest on the vehicles on their lot.....some can only have so many vehicles so they need to move them so they can get fresher vehicles.....
Some dealers act like they are doing you a favor by just talking to you.....
I agree, that is the way it is, but I bought a Chrysler from Dayton Andrews in Clearwater and they did an internet search to find the vehicle I wanted. They located one at a dealer in Volusia County, traded a vehicle with them and then made a customer out of me. Because of that, they sold 3 more new vehicles to our family. Like I said, IF the dealer wants your business and to make you a customer, he has the tools, but most could care less......
