Seasonal rv site

We plug in vermin transmitters when we leave in hopes that they work as advertised. So far in three seasons we've had no mice in our TT, KNOCK ON WOOD.:)

Two years ago our metered elec was around $160 for the season. May 1st thru Oct 15th. We are there every weekend, and one full week during the summer. It was a rather warm summer, so the ac was used alot. Last yr wasn't so warm, and we only ran the ac three times all summer and our bill was $39. Our residential frige, and a second dorm frige outside in our screen room were always left running.

We also turn water and water heater off, and slides stay out.

We aren't charged for electric (yet), so our fireplace gets a workout.

We turn off the water heater switch, and air. Turn off water at the spigot and also turn off the propane tanks. Ours is a park model so we don't have this problem, but make sure you leave your tanks closed while you're there, and empty them before you leave.

You may be tempted to leave them open but that's a bad idea especially for the black tank. Let it fill up a little then flush it out is mo bettah.

we were first time seasonals last summer and doing it again this year... I second the Electric. i left Electric on and Propane and battery as backup for fridge. I took the water one step further, i always disconnect the city water hose right from the camper when i leave on sunday. I am always afraid of the spout breaking or someone turning it on.. I also bring in slide.. less chance for leakage and bugs..

We were paying $0.20 per kh which worked out go around $150 per season (5 months) for us. We had some changes last year in our fee structure and now we it's part of our overall site fee for the season.

When we were on a meter there was a constant debate about meters not registering the same site to site. My guess is the meters were very inaccurate so it became a nightmare to administer.

What are seasonal campers paying per month for electric? I know there are variations (weather, rates, usage), but wondered if there was an average/range?

Do you contract directly with the electric company or just pay the CG based on the metered use?

Enjoy seasonal camping! It's a good way to get a lot of hassle-free use out of your camper.

Ditto on leaving on the electric and propane. We bring our awning in, turn off the water heater and completely unhook the water. You never know when the spigot could magically open while you're away. Our black tank only contains liquids, so most times that gets emptied too. We take out all garbages, close the blinds and adjust the thermostat enough to keep it from getting to oven temp during the week. Slides have stayed open from April to October for years with no issues.

Thank you everyone for your advice. We have been closing the slider, as it has an awning on top and feared it may not do well in the weather. We do all the things suggested and was not sure about the electric.
We loving not having to pack too much each weekend. It's our weekend getaway.

I'm debating trying a seasonal site for the month of August to see how we like it and how much we use it. The CG is about an hour from our house. Was debating the slide issue, but leaning towards leaving it out for the month.
