Seattle RV Show ... got a favorite?

Well, obviously, bka0721’s seminars would have been the favorite. My timing didn’t line up with his seminars. ;)

In any case, on the RV front, I have to say I really liked the Host Cascade and bathroom in person. The Host Mammoth was also nice, but a year later and I’m still not crazy about a mid bath.

There were a lot of TCs there of most brands and many models of most of them including Adventurer, Lance, Arctic Fox, Eagle Cap, Bigfoot, and Host. Complete list of brands here. http://seattlervshow.com/dealersIf you want to see a lot of models in one small area, stop by.

On the other types, I was disappointed that I didn’t like some of the Class A, B, C, TTs, and Fivers, more. The models that I thought I would like based on youtube videos didn’t work out.

Oh well, I guess I’ll be happy enough for another year with my older Host.
  • FYI... followup....

Randall said no. Not enough graphics support staff now for the current production. Our build is end of March. I guess they are really busy (a good thing).

Perhaps in the future custom color to match will be possible..
  • I ended up at the show today and came away with the feeling that some models seemed smaller in person, and some seemed bigger. I have to agree that the Host Cascade is a dream camper. Its the model that made me make the trip today. Online I thought it looked a little awkward with the rear facing theater seating but in person I thought it had more space than the pictures show. I was quite impressed with the whole setup in person in fact. Those theater seats are even comfortable to sit in instead of just looking that way.

There are always a couple little things I would want to change but I am like that, I always seem to want something a little different.

One question I had for the salesman onsite was is it possible to add a small awning over the rear door to protect the entrance? He said no problem but there isn't much space there (especially on the side of the door at the corner) so I hope that it is actually possible. Even one of those small truckin' awn setups would suffice. Anything to protect that door would be nice. Being from the Pacific Northwest I am always thinking about protection from rain.
In the kitchen I would change out the trash container cabinet drawer for a couple smaller drawers. Then cutlery and kitchen items like that would have a home because my wife would insist on the oven option which would eliminate the drawers in that location. The trash could just go under the sink (there is room there).

Other than those couple little things, I was quite impressed. I think Host has a camper that will be considered by many that are in the market for large campers at this level.
  • Have to agree on the 'mid' bath of the Host. Just find it awkward. Cascade is a sweet unit.

Lance's new units (to me), 975 and 995, are nice. I think they've come along way. And the 1172 got me thinking.

Always been impressed with the Northern's. And again this time, I think they're quality units. Not a fan at all of their windows (acrylic). They scratch easy and I just can't talk myself into seeing the benefit.

AF isn't throwing anything new out... but I still like them. The downside to them is the zero option for varied seating. For long stays/travels, having somewhere to sit other than the dining table is a big deal. Which is what the others continue to keep us looking.

Eagle Cap was nice. Doesn't excite nor annoy me.

On another note, bk's class on solar was very well done. I dropped in just before it began and glad I did. Bryan's a good speaker, knows his subject well and rolls with the questions easily while staying on course and within time lines. A lot of folks are testing the waters, checking out the other side of the fence, and he helps them see the reality..good and other..without perhaps wasting time and money through the school of hard knocks. Experience pays off once again.

Best part... talking about everything but, afterwards. Cheers sir, until next time.

Great info.. My first Host was custom color to truck.. I've already sent Randall an email to see if I can get it on the new one.

    thanks again!

There tomorrow. What host models did speedway end up bringing?

I only saw the Mammoth and Cascade. Of course, with the turns they make in the RV lines there might have been another I missed.
  • Glad to here more positive feedback on the Cascade. The Wife and I love the layout and can’t wait.

  • that's what sold us on the Cascade great layout, quite a bit of room. We looked at many different brands and models as well and by far the Host campers had the best floor-plans.
