Just wanted to touch on this, it can't be any worse than the battery in the camper, it's 8 gauge from converter to battery, and about a 9 foot run.
Yeah... Your best putting it in the bed and running it to the converter. There should be another lug on the converter. Run the positive there. The ground you will need to pull converter out. I am not sure if there is an extral lug on the ground...
This way the converter will charge both batts
