Seeking Comments on the Edge Evolution CS Diesel Controller

My understanding is that the evolution is a tuner/programmer vs the Insight is just a reader. If you want to make changes in your system, go with the evolution, but if you just want to read what is going on (and not indicated by the idiot lights and few gauges on the stock panel) go with the Insight.

The difference between the CS and the CTS is:
CS has a smaller screen and has real buttons to scroll through the menus and make selections.
CTS has a larger screen and is all touch screen. Ironically they same buttons are used but they are part of the screen itself. My understanding is that both units work the same.

I waffled between the two and finally settled on the CTS. I wanted the larger screen that I could see better. My truck still is under warranty so I did not want the tuner (guess the dealership can see if you have been monkeying around with the settings) and besides, the truck runs well enough that I don't need to mess with it. The only thing my reader can do to the truck is induce a regen mode which is nice. It never fails that regen kicks in three blocks from home and I have to sit at idle for some time to cool the system. If I know it has been a while since a regen cycle, I can force it into one as I am leaving work and it will be completed by the time I get home.

I could go on, but I bet I am boring most to tears.

I love mine and best of all I did not have to drill/cut/mount/saw/blast/etc to mount a bunch of round gauges all over the cab. Simply plug into the diagnostic port and stick the suction cup mount to the windshield and VOILA!

I was looking at the Edge products myself but am not clear what is the difference between the CS and the CTS model.

I have the CS and it's great. I display EGT and tranny/coolant temp. Many more parameters are monitored without being displayed and will alarm if out of range. I prefered the CS to the CTS for mounting in the dash pod. The CS fits the pod perfectly while the CTS just kind of sticks to the front of it.

Nothing wrong with that. In fact it's a great idea to keep an eye on what goes on with that engine with any set of gauges you can.

Man; 17 grand? That is a big trailer for that truck! :E

Monitor; my 5th Wheel weighs around 17K (loaded) and I want to keep an eye on what’s going on when hauling.

What are you going to do with it? Just monitor or you going to fuel up?
