There is a lot of satisfaction in finding that perfect floorplan for just the right price, but it does take some looking. We love to look and do it all the time anyway. There is something special about a couple seeking a nest together, no matter the age, so thanks for sharing the mood.

We might eventually do the same thing, TT to 5vr. We still have our Excursion, but we sold our small pick-up and bought an F-250 also. Initially we were going to buy a regular cab mid '90's Dodge Cummins that got the same great daily mileage as our undersized little gasser pick-up. When the deal fell through, we(I?) got carried away with getting a 7.3L V8 crewcab to more closely match the Ex, thus the SuperDuty. The mpg should be almost as good as our former mini-truck. We could sell the Ex now, but since both are older, a back-up truck is nice.

The plan is to be ready for either type camper, if we find a better floor plan in a 5vr. Larger TT's and medium 5vrs often have the same floorplans except for the stairs.

We do like our TT floorplan now, since it does have a large bath and separate bedroom, but an even larger bedroom, with a slideout, would be nicer. There are slim pickings in used TT's that large, but more commonly found in "pre-owned" 5vrs. A 5vr would also allow more easily towing a boat behind.

You've waited long enough for headroom for heavens sake.
And you will even be finally able to jump for joy if you like. ;)

When I read that statement, I wanted to say the same thing but was afraid I'd start a flame war. I'm so glad that there are other people here who see an upgrade from a TT or a 5th Wheel as a big deal just like the OP. It is going to be a big deal making this move and shouldn't be looked down upon.

There are plenty of people here on these forums who have the ways and means to buy a Class A outright, however they choose whatever rig suits them best. I can afford a Prevost, yet my Lance TT serves all my purposes, needs, wants and desires.

Do you have any smart remarks for me?

Just noticed this prevost (robsouth)is for sale on craigslist in the Atlanta area. Maybe he's buying a 5th wheel too.

Hubby thinks the fivers are nicer in that the bedroom is separate, so when we travel one of us could "get some space" and be on their laptop up there while the other one could be watching tv or whatever .. some separation which is not in our present TT.

Some really angry folks here on the old forum. I didn't feel that robsouth was being nasty, but there was no question that calamus has an issue..

Here is what I got from the first response. Moving "up" to a trailer, 5er or motor home is always a move up. We went from a PU to a Hybrid and then finally a hard sided trailer. I said "finally" because when we weigh everything against the pluses and minuses we don't want to get any larger. When we changed from our hybrid to the trailer we gave up a LOT to gain some things. People who own the large diesel pushers have different interests, needs and desires than I do. It usually has little to do with their economic status in life. Give people a break. Everyone likes their RVs and just because it isn't the same as yours, there is no need to flame others.

Wow, definitely not going to let that guy rain on my parade! I definitely was not putting down the tt community. I love my tt, and I have had several over the years, and in my book, they have all been upgrades. An upgrade in my eye is anything that suites your needs better! Or newer or bigger!
Im not even looking at new units, as I dont want to have a payment. Ive looked at alot of units for under $20,000 that I can pay cash for.
The biggest reason we are looking at 5th wheels are the head room. Im 6'4 and it would be nice to not to have to duck under the lights.

Seems like TT to 5th wheel is the usual upgrade path. Let us know how you found the transition after you make it. I'm curious because we may do the same thing some day. Don't see many people going the other way -- 5th wheel to TT.

Yup! the "upgrade, still a trailer" comment was condensending to an excited OP going from a travel trailer to their first fifth wheel.

While there are no absolutes. Going from a TT to fiver is generally an upgrade. Fivers are generally roomier,costlier,heavier and have more storage and amenities than a comparable TT.
Yes there are nice TT's that compare to fivers, but across the board fivers are generally an upgrade from a TT. While I loved my TT my fiver is definitely an upgrade vs. my prior TT. The OP's post was not intended as a personal attack or slam on the TT community.
To the OP I went from a TT to a fiver about 3 years ago now. Everything's been great however I still miss the passenger room of my Excursion.
The drivetrain in my dually is a definite upgrade from my Excursion. But we are cramped in the crew cab vs. having all the passenger space in the world with the X. We have no room in the cab for friends,any additional passengers or stuff. Family of 4 and a Doberman and that's it.
I have no regrets but I do miss my X and TT it was a great combo.
