Selling Truck-Cheap?

Just purchased a used Class C so no longer needed the 2007 Chevy half-ton truck that we used to tow our small 5th wheel. I thought it would be relatively easy to sell for $16,000 or more. But after 2 months of trying, mostly on Craigslist and being very frustrated by kooky callers, etc, I sold it to a dealer for $13,700. A really nice ext. cab truck but with 98,000 miles. I'm not sure if I gave it away or got about what I would have for trade-in but now I don't care because the stress is gone and we can move on. Just wondering if others have had this experience? Incidently, we sold the 5th wheel easily(by luck) and got a fair price.
  • Did real well , watch how long they'll sit on it after they raise the price up. I gave my Diesel up for 11k, and it was in perfect condition, but after a month and a half, it was still on there lot.
  • It sounds like you got a good price for it. I don't think my 2006 Ram 3500 diesel, dually with 44,000 miles would get much more than $16,000.
  • I would say you got a pretty good price. Last Chebby I was looking at had a real sale price around 22K pretty loaded in 2007. The truck is 7 model years old and you got half of it's original price from a dealer. Sounds good to me.
