I discussed the size and weight of the camper with my RV dealer. He talked me out of considering a dually and claimed a 3/4 ton was fine. That was before I owned a truck. Then I went shopping for trucks at Ford, Chevy and Dodge. All the sales reps told me a 3/4 ton would be just fine to handle the weight. So it is not just the manufacturers, it seems to be RV dealers and truck salesmen are just as ignorant.
I finally weighed the rig and found all the weight estimates were grossly under. I have been running about 15 percent over the load limit of the rear tires and am now upgrading to 19.5 wheels and tires.
