SidecarFlip, I have a 1988 Bigfoot 1500, 11.5 ft. The decal says 1900 lbs. I have weighed it many times, and keep coming up with 4200 lbs. I do have a 400 lb Stable Lift on it, so I must have 1900 lbs of camping gear.

You must take the 'whole house' with you....
You would think so if we were to believe the decal on the TC. That is sure a lot of fiberglass to weigh only 1900 lbs. From what I have seen, I think I take less stuff camping than most people, and what I do take is loaded in the back seat of the truck, with few exceptions.
Bedlam, I agree that just because you have doing something the same way for years does not make it right. However, with an open mind an old dog can learn something from young pups and other old dogs.
bighatnohorse you have a point. Actually I probably should change it to Graydog1. :B
After reading many posts on the weight of TCs stated by manufactures, I am of the conclusion there are few if any that are actually correct. I do believe a given TC will not weigh less than the sticker. I also believe most of us will load our TCs with 500 to 1000 pounds of camping stuff.
I strongly believe that the load capacity of the tires is the single most important upgrade, and should be greater than the weight on the rear axle. Other improvements can be made, but the tire load capacity is critical.
