Seven Truck Camper Videos - Seattle RV Show 2020We spent several hours going through the Seattle RV Show on Saturday the 8th. Crowds weren't horrible so we were able to get into all the truck campers to take a bunch of video and make our observations. Quality was generally good. No real surprises since we keep an eye on the industry for anything exciting and new. My two show favorites were First In Show to the Arctic Fox 865 Mid Wet Bath and a close second to the NorthernLite 10-2. The NorthernLites were their usual nicely finished selves with the nice wood cabinetry being the best in show. We did have the pleasure of talking to the NorthernLite factory Rep for about half an hour unfortunately he decline an on camera interview. He did give some good information about the campers like the heat system doesn't have any vent pipes except to the tank areas. All the heat vents are actually return vents so they feel that design heats the living space first and behind the walls second with return air. The campers also come with a matt under the mattress that allows air to circulate preventing moisture under the mattress. All in all a good show. The last video has a Dodge 5500 4x4 based Class C we really liked. We looked at the Class B units too. My two winners in that category are the Winnebago Revel 4x4 and the TRAVATO. The “escape hatch” on the Arctic Fox campers is the driver side window by the bed where the whole window pivots out.

Happens when you try to talk, point at what you're talking about, record, and chew gum at the same time. Not to mention having a helpful red head talking in your ear giving directions. LOL... I like having the large roof hatch. There are many times I open mine and stand up, sit on the roof, watch things with the better higher angle of view.

The campers were all nicely built and appealing to all the different needs people have. We don't need slides or hugeness, just efficient space utilization. The HOST has had the same design for several years now I'm pretty sure. Of course it's not like there's room for a lot of change. You can only move around the pieces in so many ways. A friend has a Mammoth and it is a sweet setup! Going back to me and DW, I liked the 865 Mid Wet Bath ARCTIC FOX because it created separation from the bed area and the dinette/kitchen area. We are planning to spend a year or two on the road and that separation could help a lot with putting up with each other. Mostly in that Kelli is late to bed, late to rise, and I'm an early person. It would make that difference more manageable in a tight quarter over time. I would like a longer version of the 856. There is the Adventurer 910 Mid Bath that has a slide that when slid out, creates a wide opening between the bed area and Dinette/kitchen areas reducing that feeling of separation and privacy and we don't need a slide, then I also like the kitchen arrangement better in the ARCTIC FOX 865. The Adventurer 910 kitchen had a wide separation between sink and stove, I'd like them closer. The NorthernLite is beautiful inside but I have pretty much settled on a Mid Bath design. The factory rep said they used to make a Mid Bath but there wasn't enough demand for it and they are so busy building what they are concentrated on, it just isn't in the future even if I cried several buckets of tears. If NorthernLite did build a 10-2 in a mid bath design, my search would be over.

Thank you for the videos. I'm a quarter inch over 6'4. I was looking at the newer Northern Lite 10'2. Was worried about the interior height after seeing West Coast Roller video awhile back. With your video gives me hope so I need to go look at a newer Northern Lite 10'2 and see if I clear the AC unit :).I wished Bigfoot would raise the interior height to 6'8 and give us a real queen bed 60x80. They are missing out on sales from us taller folks :)

Beware that manufactured homes bring lot of legal issues.
Lot of banks will not lend money on them, while lot of jurisdictions will plain not allow them.
My brother put top-end manufactured home on his property in WA over 20 years ago and when divorce forced him to refinance, he had hack of the time to find a bank who would talk to him.
Insurance is other issue, while low-slope roofs and lack of good insulation makes living uncomfortable.
He already had to replace lot of exterior house parts as composite boards and panels deteriorate regardless good paint over them.
If you have some knowledge, you can do owner-builder of stick house and live happy after.
Right to build your own house is in US constitution, although lot of Building Departments will try to tell you otherwise.

The Yukon uses the same rear slide as the Everest. Host will probably offer the same things in this slide. Remember that Host is very customization friendly, so there are more options than listed on the website and on printed material. Your contact at Host will be Randall and it would benefit you to go through a factory tour and discuss how you would like your camper configured.

BTW: The Yukon bathroom is smaller than the Mammoth. It is the size of the Cascade you may have seen at the show. There is a smaller sink top and less room around the toilet.

I BELIEVE the Yukon will be the one for us Bedlam.

Curious as to wether Host will offer cabinets over the side-slide (small couch dinette) their NEW floorpan doesn't show one.

And two, wether the aft slide will accommodate a drop down sleeper too?

How did the AF 865 seem room wise,you had issues filming the 865 which you noted..

These are the corrections.
ARCTIC FOX 865 Mid Bath was my winner.
Adventurer 910 Mid Bath was a comparison to the 865. The dinette/fridge slide opened wide and removed the separation and privacy between bedroom and dinette/kitchen areas.

I went through the posts and edited in the corrected information.

Host had their Mammoth and Cascade on display. They have a new Yukon which is the same size as the Mammoth and Everest. Eagle Cap had their 1165 and 1200 at the show this year.

Another Super C was the Thor F550 based motorhome. It was smaller than the Dynamax with also a smaller price tag.

Torklift typically has two booths set up at the show. If you paid attention, there will be a new product they have not yet announced.

Another member of RV.net went Friday and we were there on Sunday. While at the show, we met some first time truck camper buyers - Hopefully I did not scare them away and they will visit this forum. We are beginning to look at manufactured homes and park models for future property.

Which Adventurer is the 856,they don't show a 856 so I assume it is either the 89RB or the 86FB..Adventurer truck campers are underrated on the internet in my opinion..I have been in a 86RB and it was rock solid and easily compares to Lance in my opinion..

How did the AF 865 seem room wise,you had issues filming the 865 which you noted..

My 2010 Arctic Fox 811, which I bought new in November of 2009 has Rieco Titan. I have never had any problem with them

The Atwood jack division got purchased by Lippert, who also owns Happijac. I know I saw some pictures of their “new” truck camper jacks that sort of looked like a blend of Happijac and Atwood, but I just looked at Lippert’s website and all they have is the same old jacks.

If mine ever fail, I’ll replace them with Rieco Titan.
