My camper has a sewer pipe that extends straight down. Sometimes reaching underneath the camper to attach the hose to the sewer pipe is awkward, especially if the dump station is not the cleanest and I don't want to kneel down.This last trip I saw a camper with a 90 degree elbow on the sewer pipe. It looked like it was permanently installed, but I could not tell for certain. Connecting the hose to that elbow would be much simpler.Anybody use this approach? Is the elbow glued on, or do you just use the mounting pins to hold the elbow and then transfer your sewer cap to the end of the elbow?Thanks, and Happy Camping.

Have you looked at camco's clear 45 degree elbows?

You can use the clear elbows (45 or 90 degree) which use the mounting pins. Install one screw to prevent it from coming off. The kind with a water hose connection for cleaning can be useful.On my TC, I use a straight extension (about 6-inches long), between my dump valve and hose/macerator. With it, I get no surprises if there is still waste in there. In my cam, I use the type with a hose connector, and I att a water hose shutoff. I can open the hose shut off before removing the cap. This will let me know if a valve has leaked, so no surprise there either. Wayne

Mike, the OP is talking about the outlet of the rv....not the hose.Greg... are you referring to something like THIS? Camco makes straight, 45 degree, and 90 degree and usually can be found at just about any rv store and sometimes even walmart.Ron

Get one of these Blueline sewer fittings and the whole kit at CW...they are good inexpensive and I leave it in place all the time. slip fitting works well.

Thank you gentlemen (and ladies). I will install the 45 degree clear angle so that I do not need to get down on my knees in the dump site to attach my sewer hose.

I thought I might need to add a strap close to the end of my setup. I have been using this setup now for four years and all is still good.

I used a little glue to keep the components together, but still could easily break them apart if needed.

Ooops, you're right. X2 on your recommendation. The Camco 90 degree elbow works great, too.

Ours is like that straight down-kinda have to squat to connect. At 90° would be easier but seems that initial 'rush' +just weight on hose might be problematic? The 45° seems might be better option.

The waste piping is common ABS pipe. Depending on the length of pipe you have under your camper, there is no reason you couldn't customize by putting an elbow above the existing pins by gluing it in. It wouldn't make much sense to make it a twist on fitting as you'd be right back where you are now.
