I'm in the flojet camp too. You can easily trench and bury a 1" PVC pipe and connect to your sewer clean out without going though permits and such. A 1" ID pipe will be more than enough and the flow much better than using a dedicated garden hose. The garden hose will work, but you'll take much longer to clean out.
It's also very sanitary. I no longer dread hauling buckets of waste and the splash that does occur. The macerator is so clean, you hardly need to do more than just wash your hands after you remove the pump. The rinsing takes place on the camper with the hose fittings, so there is no after-cleanup once you drain your tanks.
