We were highly concerned when we watched it smoke and then one of the wires turned red. At that point, we shut all breakers off, and unplugged power from the outside pedestal. We have an extended warranty with Precision. Hopefully, the money spent on that coverage will save us from a huge bill. The one year warranty was up on June 1st. I'll give a call to the dealer tomorrow. I did have a conversation with an electrical engineer. Although he has not seen the picture, he said the bus and wires should be replaced because the heat probably altered the wires. I'll look at one of those surge suppressors. What's the worse case scenario, so I can be prepared.
BTW, your response to the situation by interrupting with the breakers was perfect and very fortunate.
