SHADOW CRUISER 280QBS SAFETY CONCERN PLEASE READ

Many of you have has the axle issue. We have had it as well. The axles were replaced with the same weight and 4 tires replaced with radial tires instead of bias ply. Lippert took care of this.

This message concerns your main breaker box. Since purchasing the trailer, we have learned that we can not ask the trailer to run to many electrical devices at once or we will pop a breaker inside.

On our annual Labor Day trip, we continued to have a problem. This time I was able to look in the breaker panel not just the little door on a hinge. We have not been able to get the whole panel door off before. We found the insulation to our wires melted off. We turned the power back on after it blew again and found the wires smoking and one cherry red. Please check you wiring panel. This is above your LP frig. If one spark made it into the frig compartment, the whole thing would go up in flames.

If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know.

Thanks,
Carrie

  • Here is a picture of the wires. They all look like they start out white. As the wire comes closer to the connection it turns brown then black on some of the wires.

  • This suggestion may or may not be pertinent in your situation, but at the start of every season I pull the cover off the breaker box and tighten every connection screw, ground connections included. Also tighten the connections on the converter output, battery connections and battery ground connection at the frame. Last year I found the frame ground connection loose despite checking it the year before. Humps and bumps takr their toll.

One can't judge tightness by looking.

best quote of the day...love it
  • Everything in there looked like it was screwed in tight. As soon as I can remember how to post a picture, I will.
  • Did you check to see if they were installed tightly into the fuse bus? More than likely that's all it is....
  • Yikes! I'm glad you posted this for everyone that has that trailer.
