Shipping a TV state to state

We want to ship a pick-up truck from the Boston area to Florida - we don't want to hire a driver, we want a trucker to pick it up and drop it in Jacksonville.

That's all we want, we don't want to rent a trailer, or any other way. Just truck it south so we don't have to fly up and drive it ourselves.

Does anyone know how to get this done - we've tried several "middle men" companies - they charge a fee and find a trucker.

NO luck so far - but we don't know if we're doing this the best way. Anyone have advice here ...

  • I did this when I bought our 2008 F250 new. I bought it from a dealer in Houston TX and we lived in Savannah GA. The dealer sent paperwork via DHL, I returned with a cheque and we went on camping for 4 days. The day after we got back, the truck was delivered.

The dealer set up the shipping for us, added $500 to the price ($36,500 total for new F250 Diesel CC King Ranch). The best car buying experience in my life. I wish I still had the carrier information, but sadly I don't. Many dealers have a list of transport companies. If you don't have to have an enclosed trailer, you can get it quite a bit cheaper.
