"Shocking" discovery in my AF

Began some simple maintenance on the TC today.

Removed the bottom cover to replace the plywood and found some issues.

The frame holding the rear of the fresh water tank was damaged.

And the thing that bothered me most was the generator main line.

I guess they should have used a "florescent" color on the wire and not just orange.

    Probably built in Russia.

I don't have the vast experience of these major camper manufacturers so I tended to go overboard welding. I first tack welded then ran a full fillet on all four sides of a joint.

It looks like from your photo all I really needed to do is tack weld one side and call it done.

Yeah but it has fancy graphics on the side that say Arctic Fox. That means that a small tack instead of a real weld is all that is needed.

These kinds of things disgust me , but what disgusts me even more than the lack of quality is the apologists that will say ahh you just got a bad one etc.

This company talks a good game but delivers garbage. 30 plus thousand for a rolling garbage bin?

Where are the standards ? Where is the quality control ? The owners of this company should be ashamed of themselves. As a 25 year millwright I would not be able to sleep at night if this was my work.

  • It would only take an additional second spent at each joint to place a proper weld on aluminum with the mig gun that was used to weld that.
  • Holy Crap!

Lets put aside the incredibly poor craftsmanship.

Where the hell is the quality control ? ? ? ?

They should either be out of business or everyone in management should be fired.

Aluminum frame my rear end. Absolute joke. Ill take the wood frame in my S&S thanks.

Looks to me like that top screw has caught the romex, I'd check that a little closer.

This level of craftsmanship is just down right awful, just no excuse for it whatsoever!
  • If that is simple maintenance hate to see what you call rebuilding..........och!
