Shocks for 2013 RAM 3500 Laramie Crew Cab Dually 4x4

Hi All,

I had no problem ordering a set of rear Bilstein's for the rear axle of my truck, but come to find out via a phone call to them that they are not making shocks for the front!

Rancho only sells the 7000 series for the rear only.
KYB doesn't have any at all?

What's up, the front shocks are C R A P.

Do you really need them for the front? The front end weight is not likely to change to much even with a heavy camper on it....
  • Ive never had a problem with the 9000s. I run them in the rear and they work much much better than factory/bilsteins. I don't run them up front as the older dodges you can barley access the front nob. Usually 1 year after a new truck is out part numbers for shocks start to appear.
  • Have you verified with the dealer whether or not the factory shocks for the 2013 are different than for the 2012 trucks? Often the guides are not updated for newer vehicles so they do not show a part number though one for the prior year will actually work.

Factory shocks on most of my trucks have worked well until they wore out and they did not last as long as the replacement shocks. If your truck has less than 30k miles on it the factory shocks should be OK.

The rear shocks are doing 80% of the dampening anyway when a heavy load, like a camper, is in the bed.

I have Rancho 9000 shocks on my truck but when it comes time to replace them it will be with Bilstein 5100's. Not at all impressed with the Rancho 9000 shocks which are no better than the factory ones they replaced.
  • It's all because of the new front end frame changes to the 2013 3500 trucks. i had a 2012 2500 and had Rancho 9000 front and rear. Then I got a 2013 3500 and like you found, haven't been able to get front shocks for it (put Bilsteins on the rear). The aftermarket is behind getting new shocks for the front but I'd think they will soon.

Well, I bet they will be available soon.

Have you tried Summit Racing for Rancho RS9000 ?

I called them for my truck, 1999 Dodge CTD Dually - not 4x4 - RS9000x
    $111.00 each. Front and rear.

Nothing for my truck on their website.

I think I am just going to install a set of front Timbrens until something is made.

  • Well that sure sucks. I tried a couple of different shocks and the Bills were the best by far.
I wonder if they'll have them soon?
