I think the thing to do it replace the converter's main board. That's the only place that could be causing the issue. Anything on the 12v side wouldn't affect the 120v side, and with the converter being the only thing on that circuit, then it has to be the converter. (which works fine on a non-gfci circuit).... sigh...
